One desk. Five seats. Your band.
Every video starts from the same desk concert, made for this site with our own band and a licensed song. We swap only the performers you add and keep the rest of the clip as it was.
- Part 1 · the band
The groove
The keys and the two backing singers crowd the desk as the song kicks in.
- Part 2 · the lead
The hook
The lead singer takes the mic and carries the hook, with the band behind.
- Part 3 · the solo

The sax takes the solo and the band brings it home.

Photo tips
Better photos, better band
The AI keeps what it can see. A clear photo for each seat keeps every face and hairstyle recognisable from the first beat to the last.
Face the camera
Even light, eyes visible, nobody else in the shot.
Lose the accessories
Sunglasses, caps and masks make the likeness drift.
Get close enough
Head and shoulders at least. A tiny face in a wide shot comes out vague.
Consent first
Only upload yourself, or adults who said yes.
The Tiny Desk AI trend
Why everyone is putting their friends behind the desk
NPR's Tiny Desk films musicians crammed behind an office desk. In 2023 Charlie Wilson played the Gap Band's "Outstanding" there, and AI edits of that set later went viral by swapping other people into the band, from football coaches to anyone with a following. Now people make them with their own friends.
Tiny Desk AI lets you do it with your own crew, in a desk concert of our own: add a photo for each seat and you get the whole take, with the band's moves, the camera and the song, starring your people.

FAQ
Tiny Desk AI: questions, answered
What do I get from the Tiny Desk AI generator?+
A vertical 15-second MP4 of our desk concert with you and your friends in the band, song included. It's sized for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
How does the Tiny Desk AI work?+
Your photos and the reference clip go to a reference-to-video AI model. It re-renders the concert with each person's face and hair in their seat and keeps everything else as it was.
Is it free?+
Every render costs real GPU time, so each video uses one paid credit. You can watch examples before you buy.
How long does a render take?+
Usually three to ten minutes. You can close the page; the video appears under My videos and we email you when it's done.
Which photos work best?+
One person per photo, facing the camera, in good light, with the upper body visible. Skip sunglasses, hats and masks.
Can I put more than one person in a video?+
Yes, up to five: one photo per seat (lead vocal, keys, sax and two backing singers), for the same price as one. Use a separate photo for each person; group photos confuse the model.
What if a render fails?+
Your credit is refunded automatically. Try sharper, front-facing photos.
What happens to my photos?+
They're stored privately and used only to render your video. They're deleted together with the video when the retention period ends, or earlier if you delete it yourself.
Can I upload someone else?+
Only adults who gave you permission. No minors, and no one who hasn't agreed to it.
Do credits or videos expire?+
Credits never expire. Finished videos are kept for 30 days on the single pack and for a year on the bigger packs.
Can I get my money back?+
Unused credits can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. See the refund policy for details.
Is this the official NPR Tiny Desk?+
No. It's an independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by NPR, Tiny Desk, any artist or any platform. The desk concert in your video is our own clip, not NPR footage.
